Geography: The Honduran territory consists mainly of mountains (81%), but there are
narrow plains along the coasts, a large undeveloped lowland jungle La
Mosquitia region in the northeast. Honduras hosts 15 national parks, 2
biosphere reserves, and 10 biological reserves. Among the most
unexplored and extraordinary national parks is Pico Bonito near La Ceiba
Climate: The climate of Honduras is tropical but
becomes milder at the higher elevations of the interior. The average
annual temperature in the interior is 21°CThe low-lying coastal regions,
however, are warmer, and the humidity is oppressive; the annual
temperature here averages 27°C
